Valuation and Forensic Accounting Issues in Estate Litigation in Canada and the United States

On account of the enormous transfer of wealth that is occurring in Canada and the United States estate litigation is increasing. Business valuation and forensic accounting practitioners stand to benefit from the increase in this litigation. This session will provide attendees with examples of the valuation and forensic accounting issues which arise in estate litigation.

  • Understand common issues encountered when reviewing estate accounts for improper expenditures and/or administration by trustees, and approaches to identify these issues
  • Receive examples of situations in which there is alleged fraudulent conduct and/or breaches of fiduciary duties by trustees, and approaches to calculate damages from these issues
